Korangi Peace Debate Competition

The Korangi Peace Debate Competition was undertaken by the Education Enrichment Foundation to give the youth of Korangi a chance to be involved in extracurricular activities that were targeted to reducing violence in the area. Over 120 schools were visited to recruit participants and spread the word about the ongoing event. The event, which was hosted by the Karachi Institute of Technology and entrepreneurship, lasted for three days and attracted an audience of 1150 students. Most of these students belonged to under-privileged backgrounds and were ecstatic at being given the opportunity to express themselves and be part of something with a bigger objective. It was all part of an effort to inculcate a sense of social responsibility in students who have the tendency to get involved in violent activities.
